Welcome to Calala Island
a luxury, private Island resort nestled in the undiscovered part of the Caribbean. We invite you to experience the coming together of unspoilt paradise and barefoot luxury. With a team of 25 Calala-lalas (also known in some parts of the world as “staff”) for a maximum of 10 guests, it is our goal to ensure your every desire is met, seamlessly.
The undiscovered Caribbean. Think Barbados 50 years ago. Jamaica 40 years ago. Welcome to the NiCaribbean; coined by us at Calala Island to pinpoint this area of Nicaragua that lies along the Caribbean Sea. And while we may be going back in time to unspoilt paradise, we haven’t stopped short of 5 star luxury.
Accommodations
Designed by leading architect, Matthew Falkiner, each of our suites were carefully created with you in mind. Lying directly along the beach and using the finest handcrafted furniture from right here in Nicaragua, each suite perfectly marries you with your surroundings. With only 4 suites on the entire Island, complete privacy comes as standard. As does waking up to the birds tweeting. And a sunset that must be seen to be believed.
Dining
The Caribbean and fine dining is rarely a match to be seen. Here at Calala Island, we take our food seriously. Our Executive Chef comes to us with a wealth of experience and, having worked for some of the top Michelin starred restaurants in Europe, he is constantly showcasing his elaboration of simplicity and pushing the boundaries of what the wonderfully fresh local produce has to offer.
Little Calala Island
Yours to enjoy as you wish. Just a few hundred meters, or a 5 minute paddle across, lies Little Calala Island. With just one umbrella on this tiny islet, it really can be just you. Explore the shipwreck on its shore and snorkel around the reefs, or let us send you off with a picnic for you to wither away the afternoon a million miles from reality.
Book The Island
When sharing just isnt an option! Dont worry, you can book the entire Island just for you (and your lucky guests, of course!). Our rates are on a luxury all-inclusive basis, to include all meals and snacks, beverages (excluding champagne and some fine wines), water sports, fishing, snorkelling and much more.
